Tour Highlights
Our tour itinerary blends an unhurried journey to some of Thailand’s most appealing settings – from the hectic modern-day energy and resplendent temples of its two greatest cities to the timeless tranquillity of remote hilltribe villages. A special feature is the opportunity to witness and to gain some fascinating insights into the traditional rural lifestyles of Northern Thailand. Then, as a relaxing finale, simply unwind beside a dazzling Andaman Sea beach. . .
Your stay in the exciting capital, Bangkok, includes sightseeing of the city’s greatest monuments within the Grand Palace, as well as a boat trip along the great Chao Phya River to explore the network of the Thonburi Klongs (canals). You then fly north to the country’s second city, Chiang Mai, vibrant and atmospheric location of some of Thailand’s liveliest markets and finest temples. As well as exploring these, your visit features visits to a nearby elephant camp and orchid farm.
From here you make the short journey by road to Khum Lanna, an unique village-style resort that celebrates the distinctive heritage, lifestyle and food of the Lanna region - all strongly influenced by their nearby Burmese counterparts. For the more adventurous there’s also an option to try a little ‘Soft Adventure’, with mountain-biking, elephant riding and white-water rafting.
Khum Lanna offers time for some hands-on Thai cooking lessons, leisurely cycle rides through the countryside, a rice farm visit and much more. Together these will certainly form a highlight of your tour – though one likely to be rivalled by the beautiful Lanjia Lodge, an eco-friendly community-run lodge whose design derives from Hmong hilltribe architecture, and nestling high above the Mekong River and Laos. Here there is every opportunity for guests to inter-act with their village hosts, learning about the traditional Hmong and Lahu lifestyles and joining in community activities and projects.
From Lanjia, after a visit to the ancient ‘Golden Triangle’ city of Chiang Rai, the tour takes you by air to Phuket (via Bangkok), now one of South east Asia’s premier beach resorts whose superb island beaches offer perfect conditions for ‘chilling out’ in a palm-fringed tropical setting. . .
