The superb natural world of Malaysia's twin states of Sarawak and Sabah on the great island of Borneo await you on this very special private tour that unites the best of this vast country's beguiling magic and mystery. Here are exotic forests and lazy rivers - habitat of orang-utan and the Proboscis monkey - and beach-edged offshore islands and the rich culture of the fascinating Iban and other colourful tribal communities.

Day 1 London/Kuching
Depart London Heathrow by Malaysia Airlines.

Day 2 Kuching
After changing at Kuala Lumpur, fly to Kuching and transfer to the Holiday Inn Kuching for a 2-night stay (Room & Breakfast).

Day 3 Kuching & Sarawak Cultural Village

A memorable day sightseeing (lunch included) in the the interesting state capital and the impressive Sarawak Cultural Village - an outstanding collection of traditional houses of the Iban and other tribes.

Day 4 Kuching/Skrang River
Today's 5-hour drive into the Sarawak interior takes you through rubber and pepper plantations to the Skrang river (lunch en route). Board a longboat for a 30-minute ride beneath the rainforest canopy before reaching a traditional Iban longhouse community. A welcome drink and tour of the longhouse are followed by dinner and a lively evening Iban dance and cultural performance, accompanied by rice wine. Overnight in the nearby resthouse.

Day 5 Skrang River/Kuching
A free morning to explore community, its lifestyle and exotic forest-and-river setting. Enjoy lunch (with bamboo steamed rice!) by a waterfall before returning to Kuching. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Kuching (Room & Breakfast).

Day 6 Kuching/Gunung Mulu National Park
Morning transfer for your flight to Miri and connection to Gunung Mulu National Park - where the Royal Mulu Resort is your base for a 2-night stay (Full Board). After lunch, a short boat journey and a 45-minute walk on a raised plankwalk through lowland rainforest and peat swamp bring you to the world-famous Lang Caves. View the immense limestone formations of stalactites and stalagmites; wander through the largest cave passage of Deer Cave to the Garden of Eden; and witness the amazing exodus of thousands of bats at sunset.

Day 7 Gunung Mulu National Park
Journey by longboat (45 minutes) to the Wind Caves, nowhere more breathtaking than in the King's Room. Continue to Clearwater Caves to see the 100-km-long subterranean river passage that forms South east Asia's longest cave system. Lunch at Clearwater River before returning to the Royal Mulu Resort.

Day 8 Gunung Mulu National Park/Kota Kinabalu
Fly by Vision Air to Kota Kinabalu, the Sabah capital. Transfer to the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu for a 2-night stay (Room & Breakfast).

Day 9 Tunku Abdul Rahman Park
A delightful day enjoying the exotic tropical island mood of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. First you take a short boat crossing to Gaya Island, to explore the jungle trails and to learn about the unique local ecology. Then cross to Sapi Island to swim, snorkel and enjoy a picnic lunch. Return mid-afternoon to the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu.

Day 10 Kota Kinabalu/Kinabalu National Park
Leave after breakfast for the 130-km drive to Poring, set 450 metres above sea level amid the dense tropical lowland rainforest of this spectacular reserve. Lunch is included, with ample time to explore the jungle trails and treetop canopy walkways, to visit Kipungit Waterfall and to relax in one of the hot sulphur pools! Overnight at Fairy Garden Resort (Dinner and Breakfast).

Day 11 Kinabalu National Park/Kota Kinabalu
This morning drive up to the park headquarters at Kundasang and the Visitor Centre and Mountain Garden. On a guided walk on one of the cool mountain forest trails, you'll meet more of the Park's rich diversity of flowering rhododendrons, carnivorous pitcher plants, orchids and over 300 species of birds. Return mid-afternoon to the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu for an overnight stay (Room & Breakfast)

Day 12 Kota Kinabalu/Sepilok/Sukau
A morning flight brings you to Sandakan, home of the world-renowned Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. A 10-minute rainforest walk allows a close-up view of the morning feeding of the sanctuary's endearing residents! Continue by boat (approx. 2 hours) along Sabah's longest river, the meandering Kinabantangan - viewing birds and wildlife - to Sukau Rainforest Lodge for a 2-night stay, with Full Board. (Note: the Sandakan-Sukau boat service operates Mons, Weds and Fris. On other days the journey is by road, visiting Gomantong Caves en route instead of on Day 14). At sunset enjoy a 2-hour cruise by electric motor boat in search of Sukau's 10 primate species (including the comical Proboscis monkey) as they settle high in the riverside trees. Return for a solar heated shower, candlelight dinner and slide show.

Day 13 Kinabatangan River

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills before a dawn river cruise for bird and wildlife viewing. Visit the Kelenanap ox-bow lake for a short jungle walk (weather permitting), with the option of participating in the lodge's tree-planting conservation project. After lunch enjoy more leisurely river cruising in this magical setting. Come nightfall, there's an exciting optional safari cruise spotting nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds.

Day 14 Sukau/Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast visit Sukau Village by boat before a short overland journey - followed by a guided 20 minute walk through the rainforest - to the awesome Gomantong Caves, habitat of countless bats, swiftlets and crabs Continue to Sandakan (lunch) for a short tour and a brief tea break in one of the water village houses. Transfer to airport for a late-afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu, and transfer on arrival to the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu for overnight (Room & Breakfast).

Day 15 Kota Kinabalu/London
Transfer to the airport for your the flight to Kuala Lumpur and overnight connection to London Heathrow.
