Niah Caves
In Sarawak's Niah National Park, shrouded by lowland rainforest, and accessed by road and longboat from Miri (about 2 hours), this awesome cave complex is approached by jungle plank walkway of about 2 miles. Anthropologists have uncovered human and food remains going back 40,000 years and the walls still reveal prehistoric paintings. Millions of swiftlets and bats live in the caves and at certain times of the year you can see the birds' nests being harvested for traditional soup!
