Malacca
Ancient Malacca was one of the first European settlements in the East. Arab, Dutch and British rulers have all left their mark on this historic coastal trading post between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur - through which silks, spices and sandalwood from India and China used to flow. In the town's picturesque centre stand some of Malaysia's oldest buildings, including the 17th century Dutch Stadhuys and church in the famous 'Red Square'.
