Formed
by 13 linked coral reefs, with just a speck of an island visible
above water, Layang Layang atoll is said to lie among one of
the finest diving spots anywhere in the world. Located north-west
of Kota Kinabalu (an hour by air), it offers exhilarating wall
diving in exceptionally clear water most of the year - while
there are many other watersports to enjoy from the comfortable
hotel (which has a PADI dive centre), as well as watching the
many migratory birds that nest here.
