Cherating  Typical Terenganu Beach
Some 30 miles north of Kuantan, Cherating has grown from a small village into a popular tourist destination, thanks mainly to its 12 miles of white-sand beaches, framed by jungle hillsides. It retains the simple charm of a traditional Malay fishing village where you can shop for handmade batiks and pewter. Between July and September you can watch green turtles (and occasionally giant leatherback turtles) come ashore to lay their eggs at Chendor Beach.
